Journal Entries
I chose this journal entry because it made me think about how technology affects society in a way I hadn't previously considered. This entry made me realize how much people depend on technology to give them all the answers, which leads to an overall less intelligent society that is dependent on the aid of the internet.
I chose this particular piece because it displays my learning process in completing my annotated bibliography. It shows I learned how to decipher between credible from non-credible sources, and the steps I would proceed to take to improve my bibliography (i.e. insertion of direct quotations and including more personal thoughts/opinions).
This journal entry reflects my engagement in the classroom because I discussed and responded to these questions with my classmates who were in my work group. I chose this entry because it shows I learned that you can have a conversation in a bibliography and my understanding of what a good bibliography consists of.
I chose this journal entry because it directly relates to the subject our class focused on throughout this semester: social media. It shows my thoughts and opinions on technology and how it has caused humanity to evolve. I wrote about how I did not feel that people should try and prohibit technology from affecting our society because otherwise we would never grow or evolve; we would be stuck in the same time period forever. Looking back on this entry, my opinion on this has not changed.
This entry discussing plagiarism helped me understand why it is so vital to cite your sources and do so correctly. It taught me that stealing someone's exact words and ideas compared to an artist making work that is derivative are two entirely different things; you must give credit where it is due.
I chose my first entry ever written in this class because it displays my initial thoughts on social media and how I felt it personally affected me prior to any classroom discussions/influences. I mention how I believe social media causes people to stalk others and use it obsessively; my opinions on this have not changed.
I chose this journal entry because it made me view technology and its affects on people in a new way. I never realized before discussing this entry in class that social media can make people fear being alone; when you are connected to social media 24/7, you are never truly alone for more than maybe 10 minutes a day.
